Does a 240V hot tub need special installation?
Yes. A 240V hot tub typically requires a dedicated electrical connection installed according to local electrical requirements.
Does 240V heat faster than 120V?
The short answer is yes, 240V spas generally heat faster than 120V spas. Our 120V plug-and-play spas are factory-configured to heat only when the pump is on low speed, and the heater runs at approximately 1.0kW heating capacity on 120V operation.
Should those spas be converted to 240V hardwired permanent, the heater will operate at its full 4.0kW rating and will heat on both high and low speeds. The same goes for our dedicated 240V spas, which are equipped with a 4.0 kW or 5.5 kW heater depending on the model.
In general, 240V spas heat the water more quickly and can recover heat loss faster than 120V.
Is 240V better for colder weather?
Because 240V spas provide more heating capacity and are better able to maintain and recover water temperature after heat loss (for example, when the cover is opened), they are often more suitable for colder climates.
